The Cross is a Positive Sign +
“But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself." John 12:32
The key words in this verse are lifted and draw. The greek word for lifted is hupsos meaning to exalt, honor, elevate, raise to a high place of honor and authority. The greek word for draw is hel-koo'-o, pulling with force or effort and persuade.
Metaphorically it is like dragging in a net of fish. (biblehub.com)
Eternal Separation - (dead in our sins)
Eternal Life - (raised to life in Christ)
The cross is like a giant magnet drawing sinners to God's salvation by way of God's Son, Jesus Christ.
Without a relationship with the “one” true God we are negative ( ------- ) and minus the power to live the life God intended in this world and to live eternally with God in heaven.
This is what Jesus Christ accomplished on the cross. He reconciled all people to God the Father by laying down his life, taking upon Himself the punishment for all our sins. So that all who look upon Him for their salvation will be saved.
“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them.” 2 Corinthians 5:18-19
When we connect with God through faith in Jesus Christ we are eternally sealed by the Holy Spirit with the “positive” ( + ) sign of redemption. Nothing can separate us in Christ from His love. No one or thing can undo what Jesus has accomplished through His shed blood on the cross. (Ephesians 1:13)
There are negative charges against us. But Christ has forgiven us and Jesus who is positively perfect without sin invites us to come to what He has positively accomplished on the cross so we can become one with Him and with one another. We can only stay connected with God by what Jesus Christ accomplished on the Cross.
Then our life and the lives of others in whom we contact can be positive instead of negative. And as Jesus was raised from the dead, those who are connected to Him through faith are raised also, to eternal life. (John 3:16)
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for demonstrating your great love for us by what your Son demonstrated on the Cross. Your gospel message of this truth has the power to draw all peoples to your Son for their salvation. Lord, remind me to lift you up as you have lifted me up from death to life in knowing your Son, the TRUTH.
(John 14:12)
